The 14 mm measurement describes the useful photocathode diameter, not the external tube size. The centre contact provides external gain control through a 180 kΩ EGAC circuit when used in a compatible three-contact device.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt can also be installed in a compatible standard two-contact device.
