Tube format and gain control
The tube has the same external body size as an 18 mm-format tube, with a 14 mm active input window and three contact pads. The 14 mm measurement describes the useful photocathode diameter, not the external tube size. The centre contact provides external gain control through a 180 kΩ EGAC circuit when used in a compatible three-contact device.
It can also be installed in a compatible standard two-contact device. In that configuration, the centre contact remains unconnected and the tube operates without user-adjustable manual gain, using its automatic brightness-control functions.
Please contact Deep Dark with your device manufacturer and model if you are unsure about compatibility.
